Memestock Mania Is Here And You Have The Edge

Over the past 24 hours, I’ve been thinking back to my trad-fi days — specifically January 2021, when the first real memestock craze hit.
We all remember $GME and $AMC.
If you were early, sized right, and had conviction, you made money—lots of it.
I had a small $AMC position early — but I sold too soon and watched from the sidelines as it ran 1,300% over the next few months.
I missed the real move for one reason: lack of conviction.
I didn’t yet understand how fast narratives could snowball and send assets to insane heights.
I’m bringing this up now because the same spark is in the air again. Memestocks are back on top scanners. Volumes are picking up. Retail is waking up.
And this time, we in the memecoin world have a real edge. Let me explain.
🤪 Memestock Mania Is Here
If you participate in traditional markets but don’t pay super close attention, take a moment to look at the charts of $OPEN (Opendoor), $KSS (Kohl’s), $RKT (Rocket Companies), $BULL (We Bull), $DNUT (Krispy Kreme), and $GPRO (GoPro).

These are the most recent class of memestock runners, and as you can see, memestock mania is here. Their returns look pretty sweet...
Until you look at their memecoin counterparts.
👫Their Memecoin Counterparts
Much like its stock counterpart, the OPEN memecoin had the most electric move of the bunch. It exploded out of the gate and gained 3,880%, fast. That’s more than 4x the stock’s monthly gain—in just a few hours.

The Kohl’s memecoin got off to a slower start, which actually worked in favor of those who showed up late. The strongest move came after a third wave of lows, ultimately delivering a 940% return for the patient. That’s 5x the move of the stock.

The RKT memecoin also gave huge gains, and, perhaps more importantly, a second chance at them. From low to high after the initial move, it pushed higher to the tune of 805% off the lows, which trumps the returns of the stock by nearly 24x.

Next up was DNUT, which perhaps was the cleanest trend of the bunch. From launch to highs, it gave over 9,000%! Even if you missed the first major high, if you simply bought the pullback and held to new highs, you were up nearly 300%. That’s 3x the return of the stock since the start of the month.

Finally, we have $GRPO, which is today’s mover. From low to high, after the initial move, it gave nearly 900% while the stock is up just 236% this month. Basically a 4x.

So why do memecoins run harder? Because they operate without friction.
No halts. No filings. No circuit breakers. Just pure narrative-driven flow. The feedback loops are faster, the market caps are lower, and the crowd is way more degenerate. They move at internet speed, and they reward those who are paying attention.
And while institutional money can’t size into these coins the way they do stocks, the edge still exists.
If you’re still trying to build your bag, like most of us are, this is the arena you want to be in.
🔍 A Final Observation
Let me leave you with this.
Back in the summer of 2024, $GME (the stock) had another period where it pumped. During that time, the best gains came on the first day of the move, May 13th, where it ran 145%, but prices stayed relatively elevated until about June 7th.

The first run offered a 4,400% move. Then there were a few weeks of consolidation before the next move, which gave nearly 1,000% over a 7-day period.
And here’s the kicker: the coin hit a $240 million market cap at its peak. That’s not just degen money. That’s real size. Big players showed up — just not in the stock.
This will happen again, but it will likely be a new stock that it happens to.

📖 The Takeaway
I believe this new memestock wave is only just beginning — and I think it’s going to accelerate from here.
Whether any of the stocks mentioned today go on to do massive multiples is yet to be seen. But if they do, their memecoins will almost certainly run harder.
And if none of these names is The One? That’s fine.
I believe The One is coming — and when it does, I’ll be ready. Watching the tickers. Watching the coins. And when the spark hits?
You already know where I’ll be positioned.
